As a recent graduate from The Evergreen State College, I stand in solidarity with these students.
As for the comments claiming these students are acting like whiny babies - I'd like to point out that collective action and articulate demands to promote systemic change are vitally important for improving the lives of all Americans. These guys might be 'whining,' but they're whining the right way. They're whining about the right things. And they're building a better future this country. They're working hard for all of us, and their work needs to be appreciated and supported.

I am part of a minority group. I have never experienced discrimination personally, because my physical appearance does not match any minority group. But I know there is so much discrimination for people with the same race as me and for other minority races. This happens in all public and social sectors. I strongly believe the professors and everyone involve in the education system have a great responsibility to teach our children using material in classrooms that represent all cultures, so that no one feels left out. And most importantly so that our future generations can understand, accept, and have the same respect and opportunities. An equal world that celebrates all races, religions, genders, and sexual preferences.

If you do not like MRC, drop out and found your own school! You are a disgrace. I have a graduate degree and have worked in international education for more than a decade and your little protest is outrageous. Year after year students become more and more emboldened to challenge the system and society rather than first learning about it. They fight what they do not understand. Most possess just a few crumbs of knowledge, most of which are epithets like RACIST or HOMOPHOBE. The most "progressive" of the students are usually the most sophomoric, provincial, and self-important of all the student-agitators. If your administration was wise, as I hope they are, they would expel each and every one of you without delay. It is clear that all of you have no respect for the Catholic institution at which you supposedly study. It's an embarrassing little movement you have there ...

I think the students have it backwards: it is they who are racist. They are in a country founded by white people, and are attending a university, again, founded by white people. To demand it change from white to non-white is, quite frankly, racist. Isn't it?

As an African with one undergraduate, and two graduate degrees from American universities,I have always felt that black thinkers or African contributions to the progress of humanity has either been underrated, ignored, or used negatively.Menial works by non minority people is often inflated,evil activities by white folks purposely underrated. Its about time universities develop realistic curriculum taught by real world people.We should always seek the truth, no matter what,and ask ourselves,who,or, what is an educated person?
