This is amazing work! I'm a student at UW and we are currently pressing our administration hard for reforms and we absolutely stand in solidarity with what you all are doing!

"Empowering leaders for a more Just and Humane world..." Which leaders are we empowering, and what world are we preparing them to build?

My advocacy work takes place in the legislative and executive branches of State and Local governments in which I am ENTITLED to be heard at public hearings, and during public comments agenda items. Thus, my advocacy takes place in a landscape friendlier to advocacy for self and others. I respect the students who are creating a time and space to be heard. They do not have the privilege of an "entitlement" to shape policy and accountability and they yet are committed to doing so. I respect this advocacy work and the persons doing it.

For the last two years I have heard many stories of folks who have experienced micro-aggression from other students and faculty in the classroom. Students that have felt silenced and invisible in the teachings of the college. It is not my work to encourage these students to become silent but instead to be committed and engaged with the work and values that sprout from their dissonance. I stand in solidarity with the folks that are working to unpack and rebuild this space to truly serve all of our students. Adelante, Janet

As a parent of an MRC soon to be graduate I am extremely proud of these students just demand for excellence. It is clear by this decisive outline that hours of thought, contemplation and insight have already gone into this request. It is time for action. Bravo SU students!

I am a mechanical engineering student. This issue is of deep importance to me as our own college seriously needs the kind of accountability and education that the Coalition is asking for.

As a woman of Filipina-Chinese LEGACY, the inclusion of narratives BY and not just OF Asian and Pacific Island peoples would have enhanced and empowered my education and my being. In fact, greater attention to narratives, perspectives, contributions, criticisms BY individuals and communities of all and any nonwhite persons would have enriched my education. It would have nourished my spirit, my self esteem which had been deeply wounded by dominantly white academic spaces. As a longterm member of SUYI , active at both Washington Middle School and Bailey Gatzert Elementary, I can say that the demands and vision of MRC coalition will better prepare SU staff and students to ethically and more competently work WITH these communities it intends to serve. The vision of this coalition should be applied to the University as a whole, not just Mateo Ricci College. I valued my time at SU and my urge for it to LISTEN TO and CARRY OUT these demands come from a place of true love for the SU community and hope that its mission statement be held up.
