Mr McGowan please keep our borders closed, make 2020 Footy WAFL and WAFLW only!
Mark, you and your government have done an excellent job managing the response to COVID-19!
As you would be acutely aware our WAFL clubs are struggling financially and are fighting for survival. WAFL clubs represent our footy heritage in this state and provide grass roots footy support for our community but most importantly provide a family atmosphere in which we can all enjoy our great game and all it has to offer!
We understand that Optus Stadium and the AFL are a major revenue raisers for the state and the thought of no AFL is not ideal but cricket will soon be upon us with the T20, The World Cup and International cricket events which could be the future impetus and right time for our border restrictions to be reviewed.
So this petition is to highlight the support for a WAFL and WAFLW only 2020 footy competition once social distancing measures have been reduced and whilst keeping our borders closed.
This initiative has the potential to not only provide the financial support our WAFL and WAFLW clubs so desperately need and deserve but has the potential to get the people back to our state leagues!

Keep the Eastern Staters on the other side of the WA border. Let WAFL and WAFLW play in 2020 when it’s safe
No AFL without grass roots and local footy.
Lets take advantage of being Western Australian in isolation. Local footy what a way to celebrate being West Aussie. WAFL all the WAy 2020..
We want to start playing footy as soon as possible.
Give some money to 2nd tier competitions in Australia, the lifeblood of the AFL.
Keep the state boarders closed for an extended period but it is time to reopen internal zones.
