Duchesne sold its soul and its Sacred Heart for money. But the Faustian truth is money is not everything. Our founder, Sophie, wanted education for all young girls, not only the wealthy. Seeing the tuition rate double in recent years (to the price of college tuition) is only one proof that Duchesne has drifted from its mission. Would Sophie recognize it? I doubt she would. And here, is another proof: Duchesne has become corporate. An administration willing to fire to protect their position, their job, their status in society. Concerned with the bottom line, concerned for the stockholders, concerned with the quarterly report, concerned with their image and reputation, concerned with their market share. They have lost their respect for the most humble and loyal amongst us. Sophie is rolling in her grave. And covering her face. She dares not even look at the monstrosity that Duchesne has become.

Ms. Swenson's letter yesterday only serves to further obfuscate the matter, which I'm sure was her intention. What she must realize is that we as parents (and students and staff) aren't stupid and see through this. Placing the blame yet again on the security company is ridiculous. It is obvious that the security company was notified by DUCHESNE to reassign Mr. Allen. She ignores the fact that the entire situation was initiated by a Duchesne employee. She hints at 'confidentiality' issues. If Mr. Allen has done something so serious that he warrants being reassigned then 'confidentiality' should not apply and the Duchesne community should be informed of it because it truly concerns us. If he hasn't (much more likely) then they should acknowledge their mistake and reinstate him. They are only making themselves look bad, both to the Duchesne community and those considering sending their daughters there. Ms. Swenson has lost my confidence; based on the events of the past two weeks I no longer believe in her honesty or integrity. And what's this about the staff not being allowed to interact with the students in a friendly way? My daughter always loved chatting with and kidding around with the security guards, cafeteria workers, and custodians. It seems like there is an effort afoot by the administration to make Duchesne a heartless, sterile place, devoid of humanity. Mrs. Gleaves, Mr. Allen, who's next?

In response to the comment by "an old old friend of Duchesne" ........ Boycott Extravaganza. RSVP with a big fat NO. DASH will not get any of my money.

This is so disappointing and heartbreaking. This year was my daughter's first year at Duchesne, and she started late. mr. Allen made her (and me) feel so special and comfortable. He always had a smile and something comforting to say to both of us. Thank you, Mr. Allen, for making us feel so welcome and at home at Duchesne! We have not known you long, and this already breaks both of our hearts. I am so disappointed in the way the school has handled this. We are hoping for a miracle!

How many of you have been urged to re-allocate your monetary gifts to Duchesne to a different entity? I have and I have done so. We were approached after Ms. Greaves and that movement just keeps growing. Is there another way to exert our influence?

the letter from Patricia tonight is an insult to our intelligence. Mr. Allen was reassigned as the head of security at duchesne complained he was too friendly with parents and students. He was reassigned as a direct result of this. We don't believe a word you say ms. Swenson

I'M SO TIRED OF PUSHING OFF THE BLAME!!! There are now 2 emails that attempt to put the blame on the security co. while not admitting any part in the matter??? Do they think no one has any common sense - a "decision" to reassign does not mean the school had no part in it. Who logically thinks that after 29 years of loyal, dedicated service that this was a surprise to the administration or that it was not involved/the impetus of this decision??? It shouldn't even matter anymore. Everyone wants him hired directly by Duchesne anyway. Chief of Security thank you very much. We owe him this much.

Re: Mr. Allen's 'reassignment': My daughter is not Catholic. She asked me, "If Catholics are like this, why do you send me to a Catholic school?".

So Swenson, Why was Allen relocated? It takes more than a week to give us a reason? I will let you think of an answer while you hide in your office sipping on your Starbucks lattes.

It is decisions like this that make you wonder what direction Duchesne is headed. Mr. Allen has demonstrated a love and caring for our girls that has been unmatched. It would be in everyone's best interest if Mr. Allen would be reinstated.

Sad to see Mr. Allen go. He cared so much about the school and the girls.

One week later and the school has absolutely nothing to say to our community? That in and of itself is unacceptable. The lack of communication speaks volumes about what sort of people are really running the school. Is the administration not held accountable to our community? What can we, as parents, teachers, students, and alums, do to rectify this horrid situation? I'm saddened and frustrated by the administration's lack of caring for its own community! To Mr. Allen: please know that despite the lack of response from the administration, we do care and are eagerly awaiting your return to Duchesne...and the administration stalling and refusing to communicate with us will not make us forget or ignore this problem! If anyone does have any updates, please share by replying to this comment, particularly to keep those of us who aren't at Duchesne on a daily basis updated.

We as parents need to meet with the board. If parents went as a group the board would have to take us seriously. We could do it the week after TG; I think they are counting on us forgetting all about this over TG break! Ms. Swenson has asked for TIME, for what I don't know. It took a very short time to 'transfer' Mr. Allen, seems like all it should take to reinstate him is a simple phone call to the security company saying 'we want him back'. I think she's had enough TIME and it's TIME for parents to let the board know that we expect him to be reinstated ASAP.
