Allen knew everyone in my family, including my housekeeper, for 20+ years. He is a jewel and a keeper. How can he be put out to pasture without giving us a chance to say we want to keep him forever!

I went to the Regis School and Strake Jesuit while my sisters and cousins attended Duchesne! With Allen at Duchesne, everyone knew that each girl was kept safe! Not only did Allen know all the girls names, he knew the names of parents, siblings, etc. It is a big mistake to let such an amazing man and asset leave this school!

I have been in contact with Alan, he would like the Board/families of Duchesne to speak to him, hear his side of this situation. He is still only worried about the students, "his kids," I hope that the people "investigating" what happened will give him a chance to speak. I believe we owe this to the entire Duchesne family!

We all know that Mr. Allen's focus in life was the safety and security of our girls.

Mr. Allen is a wonderful and caring person. By the first few weeks of school every year, he memorizes all of the cars that drop off girls at school, and which girls go to those cars, to not only ensure our safety, but also to come find us and let us know when our rides were there. He would walk around campus and greet everyone he saw with a smile and ask us how we were doing. High school is tough, but Mr. Allen made it seem a little bit happier everyday.

In response to Patricia Swenson's recent e-mail on this subject, praying over this is unnecessary. This is the straw that breaks the camel's back. Get Mr. Alan back to Duchesne immediately!

Dear Duchesne Community,
Over the past few days some questions have been raised regarding security guard Mr. Allen McCan’s status. Only on Tuesday afternoon did the school learn of Mr. Allen’s reassignment by his employer and at that time we began a dialogue with the school’s security contractor over next steps. Please know that this matter is not being taken lightly but rather is being thoughtfully and prayerfully considered by all involved.
I sincerely ask you as Sacred Heart community members for your patience and support. Above all, may we assume only good intentions by our coummunity and may we seek guidance in St. Paul’s words to the Ephesians, “Say only the good things that people need to hear.”
With heartfelt care,
Patricia Swenson

I say "baloney" to this. What a cover-up. Hopefully folks will see this for what it is...a LIE!

Alan is the heart of the school. How he remembers all the girls names beats me, but he does. When my daughter a 2000 grad, was here recently for reunion weekend, she made a point of going by the school to see Alan. Of course he called us both by name. We made a point of including in him the Mother daughter luncheon for that class. I had not realized that he was not employed by the school, so we cannot blame the Head for this. Clearly the parent that complained about Alan, and the security company that employs him does not "get" the Duchesne philosophy. I hope to see him back where he belongs soon.

First impressions are the best, and what was the first thing you saw pulling in the parking lot every morning. Alan McCan, smiling, waving, and happy to see everyone with a special greeting to all the students. He was a great Ambassador for Duchesne. He put his heart into his job, and it showed. I would like his contact information, preferably for a personal visit.

No hype, no spin, no bull; just a genuine smile, warm words, and a helping hand. That is the man I have known for 20+ years. You could benefit in a lesson in PR from Allen, Duchesne administration.

I am very distressed of Mr. Alans situation. This man has brought so much joy to so many people. You could not find a more reliable, happy and giving person in the world. He loved the Duchesne students and for that matter anyone who walked onto the parking lot. He was always happy ! A true "ray of sunshine". He knew every student and parent, always very polite and willing to do anything that was asked of him and most of the time did not need to be asked to do anything. He was always there when you needed him which was a blessing for all of our girls and their families. I hope that this situation is rectified in the best way for him. He is Duchesne family and should be treated as such.
