To use Oaklands as a polling station this year is so wrong on so many levels.
I have requested a postal vote so that I do not have to visit the site.

I would like my son to attend school on the 6th of May instead of polling taking place there.

Ridiculous. No need to close schools.

Although I have understood that the central location of the school within the community has been given as the reason it cannot changed in the past, I think this year has certainly shown that there is room for flexibility and innovative thinking. It seems daft to consider that schools should continue to be used for polling stations when alternative public buildings and alternative methods of voting (e.g. postal voting) are available. Closing 3 educational establishments has a big impact, not only on children, but on families having to provide childcare and potentially lose a day’s work.

Children have missed enough school over the past year and should remain open. Polling should not be held at the school in any year let alone this year. Get this sorted ASAP!

Every school day counts. It’s a tragedy to see the kids miss out a precious school day.

The education and wellbeing of ALL our children is so important - we cannot be faced with another closure in what has already been a very difficult year of lockdowns for our families. Please, please, please find another venue urgently to avoid any further disruption to our children's education, or the working lives of our families.

Like many other parents, school closures mean I lose money taking time off work. The council are quick to issue penalties when children take unauthorized time off - where do I send my invoice for lost earnings? Please stop making excuses about drop kerbs, parking, facilities for tea making etc and find somewhere sensible that doesn't impact 100s of children and parents.

Other locations need to be found that wont disrupt our childrens education - especially now when our children have missed out on so many school days.

Surely these children have had enough disruption already - there must be other suitable venues available.

I find it hard to accept that there is not at least one other suitable location to carry out local election voting (Pine wood, St Sebastians).
In normal times I find this difficult to believe. Even more so now, during a period where loss of education is a real issue that all In government understand to be real!

Common sense must prevail here.
Risk of germs in an environment striving to stay safe.
Lack of necessity - plenty of alternatives
Children’s education disrupted.
BBC Berkshire would love to hear about this. I’m going to forward to them now

Why should the childrens education be distupted anymore. Use a church hall, plenty in Crowthorne! Not to mention all the potential covid germs coming into a school premises if you use it as a polling station!

It's unfair on the kids, no problem to go and vote somewhere else

All,
Thank you so much for your support with this petition. It is quite clear that the parents of Oakland’s School and the Crowthorne community support the cause.
Please keep spreading the word and sharing the petition to raise awareness.
The petition was raised at a council meeting on 18/3, but we do not know what was discussed or if any action will be taken for this year.
The votes will soon be greater than the number of people that actually vote in person at a polling station, so please keep it up.
We will still strive to keep the schools open in this very difficult year!
