As a fontbonne university alumni, I recognize how problematic the Corona virus issue can be to student matriculation. I wish to urge the university to allow classes to continue online where students can continue the education, in a safer atmosphere until these issues have been dealt with altogether.

So now a teacher at fontbonne who studies infectious diseases is moving her classes online because she disagrees with keeping classes face-to-face because it is risking not only the students but those the students come in contact with. This should show the school that they are wrong and should move classes online

Please reverse your decision to continue in seat classes. The email to students indicates that university leadership "reviewed the data" but as a health care professional I must question what data you are using and what infection control physician you are consulting. The historical data supports closing schools and limiting group gathering, both of which you are failing to follow. While you tell students they may work with individual instructors if the feel it is best for them to not report to class, that does not alleviate the fear from the student that they are asking for special treatment, risking not receiving information, and placing additional work on the instructor. Current data shows that continuing group events, such as leaving schools open, quickly spreads the disease further. You are putting the students, teachers, families and the general population at unnecessary added risk. Please take the responsible action and move to online instructions before classes resume on Monday March 16, 2020.

As a nurse and concerned parent., it is pertinent that you realize the risk of this epidemic. Any densely populated areas including dorms become possible breeding grounds for infection. I implore you to do the right thing. Just because the campus has not seen any active cases doesn’t mean that it is not susceptible. Please rethink this decision and do what’s best for the school and the community as a whole.
