My child attends preschool near this church and I will not let this happen. I work very closely with the homeless and know that most of them should not be around children.

This is so unsafe on many different aspects. How do they plan to ensure the safety of the children? How do they know if the people they let in to the shelter are not sex offenders? Will the people let in to the shelter be required to be clean and sober or does or can they use drugs? How are they going to ensure the people leave the site of the shelter from 7am-7pm?

My son goes to kids world and I wouldn't feel safe leaving him there with the shelter next door

I fully agree we need warming shelters. But not right next to a school.

No! This is not an ok location. LO lost funding because businesses were complaining about people defecating outside, selling drugs and having sex in public. It is also against Longview emergency shelter zoning laws. There is a 1000ft buffer around schools for a reason.

I understand that the homeless need a place but I feel next to a preschool and an elementary school is a poor choice

My 3 year old great granddaughter goes to this pre school. I do not feel comfortable with the powers that be thinking this will not hurt anyone! Small children are our most vulnerable asset! How dare you endanger them!!

Please please please keep the shelter away from the kids. There’s s park down the road, a preschool, and an elementary school where many of these children have to walk to get to school.

I am supposed to having a warming shelter on Kessler near the school. When I lived in 22nd the church behind me tried this and it was a disaster. The homeless people went through our trash, stole from us and the neighbors. They would ask for money or rides. There was a lot of yelling and fights at all hours of the night. It was not safe.

This should not happen. The safety of of kids should come first. Also would be concerned about those with sex offense charges registered as homeless using the shelter and being so close to a walking school where the kids are often walking alone in the winter and it is still dark out no child should be put at risk!

Drug addicts, and the mentally ill should NOT be allowed to be next to a preschool, or a elementary school. Who will pick up all the used needles around the neighborhood? Open the fairgrounds. Lewis County does it every year. With great success, I might add.

i’d like to know who is going to clean up the human waste, trash, needles and everything else they leave behind outside. And also what happened to Chuck Hendrickson and the church that bought the old triangle theater who said they would use it as a warming shelter as well as checks coffee shop on commerce.?
