Dear Central Office,
On May 12th, 2018 the Eta Chi
chapter of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona was scheduled to be
reactivated. It is with the deepest sincerity that we request along with
additional support from this petition that a pledge class be given what was
taken from them six years ago.
With less than twenty-four hours
to initiation, the Gamma Rho class was told that they would not be crossing.
Fourteen students pledged a full quarter winter of 2012. The next day on March
3rd, they would have become what they worked hard to earn. However, on March
2nd Gamma Rho got notice that they would not be initiating. The point throughout
their pledging process that would hurt them the most.
Jack Henry Gamboa Jr., Sonny Ton,
Elaine Wang, Matthew Tanumathaya, Sour Ngin, Mary Mar, Robert Perez, Kevin Mok,
Justin Liwag, Hunter Yamashiro, John Daniel Morales, Kristine Fong, Sharon
Chung, and Jacky Tran.
These 14 students sacrificed
enormous amounts of time, energy, grades, restful nights and other
opportunities to pledge for Delta Sigma Pi. They studied our bylaws, remembered
the names of our four founders, recited our purpose, embodied the
professionalism that DSP represented, and much more. Similar to what each of us
did to become a bro.
Eta chi assumes the
responsibility of what happened. We apologize for letting our fraternity and our
school down. We apologize for what harm we caused to those affected. We also
apologize for the pain we've brought upon to our pledge class. We followed all
sanctions issued by Judicial Affairs and we on plan continuing to abide by the
behavior standards expected from us. We cannot undo what was wronged in the
past, but we can set an example of how a chapter should behave and support one
another.
It is our goal to sincerely apologize
for our past actions. It is not what the fraternity or the school stands for.
It was not what our chapter was built upon and it was not what kept us together
this long. Please do not let the actions of the chapter continue to harm the
Gamma Rho class. We can never give Gamma Rho back what they lost, we would like
to give them back a piece of what we cherished most in college; the feeling of
belonging.
From Eta Chi along with the
support from everyone on this petition; We'd like to sincerely apologize and
plea that the Gamma Rho class membership to DSP be considered.
Thank you,
Eta Chi and Supporters.
Best Luck to the Gamma Rho class as they fully deserve this!! GO HX!! Steven Huang HX BP #389
