Traffic congestion

As a long-time resident of Stouffville who deeply values the charm, balance of our beautiful town, I feel compelled to respectfully share concerns regarding the proposed development of a religious center in the heart of our downtown core. While I wholeheartedly support freedom of worship and believe in a diverse and inclusive community, the location selected for this project raises serious logistical and urban planning concerns. With only 53 parking spots proposed, and expectations of regular large gatherings, there is significant risk of overflow parking, congestion, and disruption to nearby businesses and residents. The central location—already under strain during peak hours—will not be able to accommodate the increased traffic volumes, and this could have lasting impacts on pedestrian safety, small business accessibility, and emergency vehicle flow. I urge the town to reconsider the placement of this project and explore alternative locations that would better support both the needs of the community being served and the infrastructure of the town at large. This is not about opposing any group—it is about ensuring that any new development, religious or otherwise, is sustainable, practical, and respectful of the existing urban fabric of our town. Thank you for your time and for considering thoughtful input from local residents.

No opposing mosque but suggesting it (mosque) should be built somewhere else. It's very close to Mani st. and 9th line. It will create lot of congestion and too much traffic on Winina dr.

This sets a bad precedent by bending established zoning laws just to force a building onto a lot that clearly doesn’t accommodate it. The neighboring property already struggles with limited parking, and the Town should apply lessons learned from past planning missteps. Approving this proposal in its current form would ignore those lessons. The applicant should be required to revise the building design to comply with the existing by-laws and resubmit accordingly.

I reside on Main st, east of this future development. Traffic going west is already an issue. A road with Single lane travelling east/west. A market in the middle of it, creating delay as people attempting to park their vehicle or exiting a parking space, pedestrians jumping in middle of the road. If a place of worship is placed there it will only get worst. If the town actually wishes to conduct any studies. Please attend mosque area Markham/Nugget Ave, Toronto or the pens located in Markham area on Friday evenings, Eid days and see the chaos it creates. This location will threaten pedestrians safety as well create more conditions for motor vehicle collisions.

The location isn’t ideal for a place of worship not enough area for parking. The overflow parking going to the parking lot next door.

95% lot coverage with only 53 parking spots proposed is a safety concern. with the growing population an increase in traffic means more vehicles coming/going in a small area.

Place not ideal, given its location, and also too small for this structure.

Keep it a commercial space. Do not change the bylaw.

Places of worship are good to have but not at the cost of traffic congestion. When we already have mosques within 2 km radius(in Sandiford Dr and Ringroad Dr), I absolutely do not understand the need for another mosque /place of worship in Winona Dr. It also affects the diversity of Stouffvillle. This site could better be utilized for commercial/recreational developments for the benefit of entire Stouffville community.
