Petition to be handed in by 30th Nov

    Plans to create a 25,000 sq ft Morrisons store which would create 250-300 jobs & safeguard the future of Nu-swifts 70 employees by building a new facility on their existing site.

    The aim to encourage local trading in Elland is a good thing & would enable people to have more choice & value, which Elland is struggling to provide, in turn it would bring more custom into the town & encourage to shop locally instead of going to bigger neighbouring towns,this is what Elland,a once vibrant & prosperous town has been crying out for. The shops years ago closed in Elland before any mention of supermarkets arose. It's plain fear of the unknown, but we have to move forward as what Elland can give customers now, is not helping our town to thrive. We need to breathe life back into a town that had lots of heart.   

     The much needed Morrisons store would include under-store parking, a petrol station & proposed a new access road from the Elland Riorges Link.

The plans also include providing a new facility for Nu-swifts which has been looking for a new site in Elland for many years, they are one of our few, long standing companies as they've been in Elland since 1933 & are commited to staying in the town.

      We, the community of Elland have been left behind along with our town, to go downhill, now is the time to invest in our town & grab the glimmer of hope for the future as leaving it as it is, is killing our historic town, please sign this petition if you agree with the plans of morrisons4elland.
