We really enjoy the atmosphere at Ardon Creek and it would deeply diminish the enjoyment with the smell of hog waste. Please ensure that doesn’t happen

Find another place for the confinement

Think of a beautiful summer day, 75, sunny, no humidity. You're gathered at Ardon Creek with your friends and family, celebrating your daughter's wedding, or your son's graduation, or maybe even your own retirement after toiling all those years for the corporation. Everyone is enjoying the occasion, celebrating the accomplishment at hand, reconnecting with family and friends, and creating new memories. Then the wind picks up and a new memory is created, one that no one wants. The smell of swine. No Hogs, No Way!

On a nice day, we love to ride our bicycles out to Ardon Creek. Especially during the summer and fall to enjoy the pleasant atmosphere, fresh air, great entertainment, and fine wine. However, let us learn from the recent fiasco in Texas caused by relaxation of critical regulations in the name of profits and therefore NOT allow any proposed variances to facilitate shortcuts in construction of this hog confinement facility in Muscatine County.

A hog confinement operation would adversely affect Ardon Creek Winery. I’m very much against that as we enjoy their outdoor concerts,

Unnecessary to breed more pigs in a state that has thousands of farmers who already raise them.

Agriculture is very important for our community, but we can all agree that hog confinement’s stink and they haven’t figured out a way to stop the wind from blowing.

A hog confinery near this already established winery would be detrimental to this business. Please do not allow this to happen!

The proposed hog confinement will not only be a negative for Ardon Creek but the whole neighborhood.

Many people enjoy Ardon Creek’s outdoor events. The hog confinement would negatively affect an already established business that uses Iowa farm land to produce a local product enjoyed locally.

Really? A hog farm next to an established winery? If passed this would be a textbook example of how not to run a government. Slap in the face for any Iowan trying to build new industries in the state.

Save the cultural gem and diversity that is brought to that area by the winery. Iowa is a big state and land is certainly plentiful in that area.

For over a decade we (at Ardon Creek) have been building a business that employs people from the surrounding area, creates a quality product, and provides a venue for people to get outdoors and enjoy rural Iowa with music, wine and community. Approving this hog operation has the potential to disrupt a growing business in literally a matter of weeks and rob our community of the ability to enjoy the beauty of the countryside.

I strongly oppose the construction of this hog confinement. It will have a negative impact on the environment and the quality of life in the neighborhood.

This is a favorite place of our family. Their Friday music nights are such a fun time. If a hog confinement goes up in the area, it can potentially make it impossible to have any outdoor venue. I live near a hog confinement and a cattle operation and we go from heating to air conditioning. We cannot enjoy opening our windows even for a day. Please don’t allow the confinement to build in the neighborhood of the winery. What good is it if you allow one business to open only to cause harm to another.
