Playing helps children's minds and encourages creativity. It also helps with physical health. There are too many people overweight. Sitting in a chair for 5-6 hours is hard for little kids. Then add the fact that they have to listen and obtain new information everyday. That is hard for an active 5 year old. Please let them move and get out and play more. Let their imagination run wild and free.

It's against the nature of children to to not have sufficient periods of exercise/activity. The sedentary life today's children are forced to endure for periods at a time, has everything to do with the cracked foundation of their future health and weight issues!!

Also, restricting recess time should not be used as punishment as it has been by elementary teachers.

PLEASE consider this! I have taught piano lessons for 35 years and in the last 7 years I have had to start planning activities off the piano bench because children just cannot sit for 30 minutes. The same children who struggle have no problem when we have lessons during the summer or even on half-days. Please, please let the children move. They will get so much more out of the time they spend on their studies.

It is about time! One of the biggest reasons I am considering alternatives to public school is the lack of recess! I don't understand why "playing" is underestimated! It is in fact the very base of which all learning is built upon and the natural way of learning! Please for their education and for the health of our kids, enforce more recess!

As a second grade teacher I feel that more breaks for recess for the kids would make a world of difference in behavior in the classroom.

I know for a fact more time to play or get the jitters out would benefit my son. It's hard for Kinders or 1st graders to stay still and calm for so long.

Taking away recess time to run and play for kids does not help with concentration and hyperactivity. Studies have shown the opposite. Having kids to have some
Extra time to exercise and socialize had helped with ability to focus and do better in school. Plus, kids learn so much from socialization with peers which they do not get time to do.
Students will be more productive in the classroom when they get the movement they need.
