Research shows that recess is beneficial to the development of children. Students that play longer, focus longer. Please consider this increase of recess time.

Yes, activities. My son is in athletics so he gets plenty of exercise but I think it's a shame for those kids who aren't involved in athletics if they don't have an opportunity to get more physical activity and their day.

Kids need at least an hour of outside time everyday. It's crucial in development. You don't know what they get at home, so is needs to be at school!

I 100% agree that kids need more recess!!!! They have so much energy to burn off, they will oxygenate their brains with running and jumping and playing kickball. MORE RECESS!!!!

Studies have shown that more recess is beneficial to children. And they are children...they need to run & play & be children!

Fully support this petition. Both my elementary age children complain about their recess time. My son with learning disabilities gets his one chance of free time taken away bc of study hall if he has to finish his work. To top it off his recess is at the end of the day! So 7 whole hours of nose to the books, walking in hallways like robots, and not able to have a voice above a whisper is inappropriate for any elementary age!

Fresh air, laughing and playing open the mind to learning.

The excessive testing and giving children less recess time have done nothing except make our kids not like school. It hadn't improved grades or knowledge. In addition, children need more recess in order to shake off excess energy and to allow their minds to open up for learning.

It has been repeatedly proven that children are physically and mentally healthier with unstructured PLAY time! It's WAY past time to get with he program.

Children absolutely need recess to burn off all that energy and have fun. Then they can sit calmly and do their class work.
