Autistic children need a better educational plan with placements that meet their needs with peers and educational provides that are able to understand and educate.

My son is 18. And at college am goin threw this now even though since he's was statemented at 11 is statement hasn't changed. Plus I neve knew about EHCP till someone told me so now tryin to get this. Does my head in as there isn't any help. Also dreading when he has to go on PIP. As the statement I have is old. Why can't they reliese that if they have a learning problem etc they will always struggle in life.

I have a son with HFA who attends mainstream. He will start secondary school next year which is a huge concern for me.

I have fought endlessly for my son finally got special school last Feb he is 16 next mth and still fighting it's hard enough as I have a 17yr old son with Asperger a who has been failed he is struggling in college things need to change for our kids and the next generation they have just as much right as neurotypicial children.

My son is on the verge of getting excluded. Teachers say that they have never dealt with ASD. They need training in ASD!

My son is 10 years old, he has Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Hypermobility and ADHD, he has already been excluded from his school (fixed term) for behaviour that would have been prevented had the school supported him and known how to notice his triggers/anxiety, when I emailed the school to help them see ways that would help prevent such incidents in the future I was called to a meeting with 3 of the school staff (I'm a single mum and was alone) where they proceeded to rip my sons character to shreds, blaming him for every incident between him and other children even on the occasions where other children had hurt him (this child only hurt your son because he said this) the other children have no special needs. He is not being given the support he needs in order to fulfill his potential at the school as they have no clue how to help a child like him instead they paint him with the "naughty boy" brush. The nearest school for children with his needs is over an hour away and I just don't have the finances to be able to drive him that far every day (I also have another child) children (and families with) on the spectrum desperately need schools that can help them thrive instead of setting them on a path to nowhere

I have 2 sons asd.
My eldest goes to a sen school. But have recently been told not to hold my breath with my 2nd getting into one too.

My son has autisum as well as my nephew and finding anything to do with them is a nightmare and the support we have received is none existing. More really need to be out there

Not coping in mainstream but being told Nit bad enough to warrant a special school !

Good on you. The system sucks. My child is disabled and there is not a thing for him. The ed psych the senco haven't even worked with Children like my son. There is eyesight in it that my son needs an EHCP and yet we still go through the hoops wasting resources
