Floyd Medical Center needs the capability to provide open heart surgery to the community

In 2013 my husband was faced with having open heart surgery. This was a very scary time in our lives and we went to Floyd as our preferred provider to have the heart catheterization but due to Floyd not being able to provide open heart, we were informed we had to transfer to another hospital. This is not only an inconvenience for patients and their families but having to transport them during a heart event comes with additional risks that could be prevented by allowing these services at Floyd Medical Center. It is unfortunate that we weren't able to choose where we wanted these services provided and due to being performed at a different hospital increased our out of pocket expenses.

Looking at different providors post acute infection rates is one way I determine where to have surgery. I deserve to have cardiothoracic surgery at the providor I trust, FMC.
