If people in our community are on a waiting list, why would we not want Floyd Medical Center to be approved to perform Open heart surgery? Floyd Medical Center is in a position to help it's community. #moreheartNWGA

We need to allow the people of Floyd and surrounding counties to have a choice and to receive heart services needed promptly. I have been asked many times why we don't provide this service, since there is such a waiting list across town. When I explain, they do not understand why Floyd cannot offer these services as well since they know people in our community who have had to wait to have these services performed.

As a heart nurse in Rome, I believe in a choice for those we serve. I've worked for the competitor for 10 years and I've seen the need for additional services in this area for years!! Please consider allowing a hospital with a passion for our community and those it serves to expand much needed and WANTED services to the residents of not only the county it is in but the counties in close proximity, including Alabama.

It really makes no sense to deny FMC of providing open heart surgery. It does, however, make sense to allow them to, as it would allow citizens a choice of where to go, help more people and drive the cost of the surgery down by having more than one viable option. This is a no-brainer.
