I support Floyd Medical Center's open-heart surgery initiative.
With Floyd being a not-for-profit hospital, members in our Rome community and surrounding area can have open-heart surgery at a lower price, which is prudent for low-income or no insurance individuals and families. Additionally, those in our community should have a choice where to have surgery instead of being obligated to one provider (Redmond). Even more, Redmond was approved for OB services stating patients should have a choice; the same goes for open-heart surgery.

Floyd needs to be available for all medical care of its patients vs. patient having to be transferred for specific care and then getting higher bills-none of which is conducive to optimum healing.

This is a critical need in Floyd county as well as the surrounding counties Floyd Serves. The current rates charged by HCA are enormous and way above the state average - just because they can take advantage. They are not serving those in need. They cater to the insured population to pad their profits.

This open heart initiative is of critical importance to the Rome community. Our underfunded and disadvantaged population deserves the best care opportunities and Floyd is always ready and willing to provide excellent care to every community member despite challenges they may face. Floyd consistently provides excellent care and absolutely deserves the opportunity to extend it's service line to include open heart surgeries. Patients will be spared unnecessary delays in surgery when their lives are at risk waiting for transfers! Patients will be spared outrageous costs associated with those transfers! Patients will have a smoother transition of care with one hospital system tracking their outcomes and providing follow-up care! There are so many compelling reasons to allow Floyd to open these services. Please consider it!

Floyd has the opportunity to serve such a wide variety of the Northwest Georgia community base. ALL members of our community deserves to have the same opportunity for excellent care, especially for their heart health! The community deserves to have a choice in who handles THEIR LIVES and the lives of their loved ones!

We strive to be the hospital of choice in our surrounding areas. With the addition of being able to provide open heart surgery, patients would benefit in having a choice of a great hospital plus less cost.

Thank you for considering this great need for our community. After having a close family member in need of this operation and having to experience what we did at another facility with no choices, we need more options.
