I am totally against hydroponically grown produce being certified as organic. Dirt is organic after all.

The NOP has no excuse to not act in accordance with the NOSB recommendation about hydroponics. NO more certification of hydroponics until the rule is issued.

While I respect there are other methods and will continue to be other methods of growing food, I have to put my boot down! As someone who works 2.5 acres of loamy soil amended with compost and cover cropping, there is no living system over than the soil that connects us to the complexity and wisdom of the universe and ourselves. We already grow enough food to feed the world:

But it is human greed, that allows billions to starve, not a lack of food production. Why don't we figure out how to feed the world with what we have, and then we can play around gutter grown crops and all the whatever-ponics first world privileged entrepreneurs want? Or is incalculable global food waste the foundation of of the new organic?

It may be organic but it is hydroponic, which is distinctly a different process than soil based growth. I would support clarification of labelling.
