MONZANTE
MONZANTE winner of over $500,000, and a Grade I winner in the prime of his life lost his life on the racetrack. MONZANTE tried hard. He was a top competitor on the horse racing circuit. After winning over $500,000 for his owners, he stopped winning at top level and slipped into the claiming ranks. For those of you who don't know what a claiming race is, it is a dumping ground for sore, older horses that can't compete at top level. MONZANTE is referred to a horse with BACKCLASS in our industry, and more often than not, gets sold out to the claiming ranks instead of getting a much deserved retirement. Think of him as a lemon getting squeezed dry. That happened at Evangeline Downs when he broke down in a $4000 claiming race and died. This must stop. Sign this petition. I will present it to The Jockey Club, various racing commissions, PETA, and the NTRA. Don't let MONZANTE die in vain.
