Maryland is a state that I’m proud to live in because we are more well intentioned to those in need than other states. Montgomery County is a county strong in this tradition. Let’s make sure we do all we can to ensure all of our residents have access to affordable housing.

The best way to make housing affordable at all income levels is to ADD MORE HOUSING. ADUs are a great option and allow many to own a home or stay in their home when they might otherwise have to move. I support this whole heartedly!!!

Allowing more housing in transit-oriented communities is sound environmental policy; it uses existing infrastructure to support additional residents and cutting down on sprawl and car traffic that accompanies sprawl. It also increases the supply of affordable housing.

Housing in Montgomery County should not be for the wealthy alone. ADUs are an affordable option for renters, and a good option for seniors who want to age in place.

I have 1/3 acre and a 6-car parking pad a 10 minute walk from Kensington MARC. As the climate crisis looms, homeowners like me should be encouraged to build detached ADUs rather than force newcomers out to less transit-accessible locales. Be sure to waive parking minimums near MARC and BRT, not just Metro/PL.
