Final supporters
The newly rebuilt gymnasium looks good and we are happy to play in this space. The removal of other obstructions on the floor (including the divider curtain and cabinet) are welcomed. However, keeping the existing water fountain design was a huge oversight that needs to be corrected.
The water fountain is a danger to players on the floor, who are often running with other players in close proximity and at times making contact with one another. We have had collisions with the water fountain in the past.
Notwithstanding the liability waiver forms that we have completed and the risks that we voluntarily take in playing in the floor hockey league, the water fountain is clearly a hazard for which the MNJCC must take responsibility.
Nobody wants any injuries to occur as a result of the fountain in its current configuration. It is a danger to all gymnasium participants, whether it is floor hockey, basketball, or other sports.
That is why we submit this petition to the MNJCC to replace the current water fountain with one that is recessed within the gymnasium wall.

I never imagined so many people would see this issue the same way I do. It truly humbles me to see how much we all care about keeping our playing space safe.

I am honestly stunned to see so many people agreeing that the gym needs to be safer. This movement belongs entirely to the folks who keep showing up to play and looking out for one another.

got to see inside the wall last time it was knocked off.. there is no electrical hazard or any structural reason why the old (recessed) style of water fountain can't be put in there... it stick out and is clearly a hazard for anyone running behind the net
I ran into the water fountain twice in one game but fortunately wasn't hurt. This should be fixed immediately. Move it into the hall.
The fountain should be moved into the hall. Although a recessed one would be slot better, it could still present a hazard.

This is the reason why Im not playing this year....as a defenceman I often go behind the net to retrieve wiffle balls,,,,last thing I need right now is another brain injury,,,,gotta work the next day fools. If people are thirsty bring a bottle and leave it on the bench. When you get rid of this thing I will rejoin the league
