MN Homeschoolers Against MACHE's Xenophobic Statements

Absolutely disgusting. Horrible representation of Christ to a world that needs Him so dearly.

Mache should publicly acknowledge and apologize for this wrong doing.

From the first MACHE conference we attended several years ago we knew there was a politically motivated agenda at this organization. Sad, since it has had the ability to bring together good resources for homeschool families in the name of Christ. Unfortunately, nothing in this communique is Christlike or beneficial to the homeschool community. Full apologies, and a resignation of Mr. Watkins...from all MACHE involvement...and his church, is in order.

As a former member of MACHE, this is completely unacceptable. Even after an apology is offered, it doesn't negate the heart behind the statement. Matt 5:18 The things that come out of a person's mouth come from the heart. How many racist thoughts inform decisions made by MACHE that never make it into a newsletter or email to be publicly shamed?

As a 10-year Catholic homeschooler I am deeply disappointed by this representation of a large, well-known Christian homeschooling organization. If you follow the news at all you are aware that attacks on Asian-American citizens have increased since this virus began. I cannot understand how, in the name of either Christ or freedom, you would prioritize getting a vague, meaningless dig in at the Chinese at the expense of Asian-American people --including many Christians and homeschoolers! -- in our own community. If you want to hold the Chinese Communist Party to task for its response to the coronavirus, surely you can find a more appropriate place.

MACHE is better than this. Take the high road, not the low one.

I was shocked and appalled this morning when I read this email. I am done with MACHE!

I am appalled and disgusted. I will definitely NOT be recommending MACHE to ANY current or potential homeschoolers. (or anyone else for that matter). What a repellent thing to say.

While we did get some good information from this organization in the past, I am very glad our homeschooling days are over; they have gone way too far to the right this time.

As a 7 year veteran homeschool parent I am appalled at the blatant racism from a Christian organization. That’s exactly what it is and you are perpetuating ignorant attacks against our fellow Asian Americans. Shame on you. Completely disgusting behavior.

I am incredibly disappointed and disgusted by this. I was a member of MACHE for a long time, and a leader in the local homeschool community. I will no longer recommend MACHE to the many people who approach me for advice, unless there is public evidence of a change of heart. I am deeply distressed.

I would never suggest your website to my friends who are considering homeschooling for fear that they would find anti-Asian and unchristian slurs instead of encouragement and joy.

This rhetoric (CCP) is contributing to a dialog that is extremely harmful and dangerous. As a former homeschooler, I was appalled when someone brought it to my attention. This kind of bias cannot be allowed in this community. Please consider how this kind of bias is impacting our Asian communities whether they are homeschooling or not.

All racists need to take a DNA test.

Supposed Christians being so hateful. When will it end?

As a Minnesota homeschooler, I am ashamed of the inflammatory language used in this letter. I'm sad that some people will read this and think it is ok to use the same language. I'm concerned for the Asian American homeschoolers who will come across this letter and feel unwelcome or unsafe. I'm embarrassed for the homeschool community who thought they were well represented by you. At a time when more and more people are considering homeschooling, this was particularly terrible.
