This is very much needed. Why spend so much money on installing flashing lights and slow children signs if we aren't keeping the sidewalk routes safe for kids to get to school?

I fell on the northwest corner of 58th & Central in August 2009, with serious injuries as a result (2 surgeries; 6% disability), and a Forest Hills resident fell there a few months after I did, but the problems at that corner have still not been addressed by DPW. On 57th Street between Central and College, some sidewalks are worn down to the point of being level with the street surface.

I support the SRTS initiative. I have students at CFI84 and I've seen their friends trip and fall pretty hard on the sidewalks south of the school. This would be a great improvement.

Very well-done sidewalk replacement on a number of blocks on Washington Blvd, which is heavily travelled for IHM & CFI#84, was completed awhile back. In addition to making those portions of Washington Blvd more walkable, the project clearly improved the curb appeal of blocks of homes. Do I recall correctly that the cost of the project is being recouped via a barely noticeable special assessment on the residences which benefited from the new walks? If so, well worth it to those who benefited; and, a consideration favoring approval of the projects. mgr.

As a community member who walks several miles each day for fitness on these sidewalks, I can attest to how bad they are. I have almost tripped several times and am embarrassed to take out-of-town guests on walks with me on my normal routes around CFI #84.

The sidewalk in front of our house is badly in need of repair. It would be very easy for someon to fall and get hurt with the broken pieces.

Note, it is very important for neighbors to contact the City. (Emails for these individuals are listed at the bottom of the petition) In addition, this petition will be sent to those individuals and the Mayor once enough signatures have been collected. Thank you for your support!

To everyone reading this: PLEASE persistently contact your City County Councilors and the Mayor's office to get your voice heard on this issue. Please share on Next Door and other social media outlets to get the word out. Sidewalks and pavement in this area are deplorable and have been for many years.

The sidewalks are in horrible shape. I tripped twice walking my route 5600- 5800 central Saturday.
The streets are also dangerous riding a bike. In the past I would ride in the center lane of Central 5600-Kessler as the center was smoother. . Chuck holes now make Central treacherous for bicyclists and sidewalks treacherous for walkers.

The sidewalks on Central are terrible and dangerous. The sidewalks on 57th between Central and College are also awful. These are bad for both walkers and bikers.

Strongly support. I've been trying to get the sidewalks on Central addressed for 17 years. With the amount of pedestrian and bike traffic due to IHM and 84 it's amazing nobody has gotten seriously hurt. These sidewalks are in deplorable condition and have been for years.
