So true! As a sufferer of anorexia nervosa, I have been scared into thinking that I am eating 'badly' triggering the worsening of my eating disorder and partly the development of it

Completely agree with this. No one with an eating disorder needs to see these things. It makes recovery extremely difficult.

I agree with you 100%. These messages fuelled my eating disorder to no end and I still have trouble with these messages as I often feel like I shouldn't be eating certain things due to 'having too much' of it or other things the media says. But being underweight I shouldn't even be worrying about this because when underweight there is not really an excess amount of food you can have. I completely understand the implications it can have on other people's health, say those who are overweight, but the media needs to be more mindful as not only overweight people see those messages. Honestly, I think it's far more damaging than helpful.

There is too much in the media about food and eating in a way that makes people panic- especially on sites like the Daily Mail. The truth should be reported, only the truth, and it should be done in balance like the statistics you've put here. Hopefully this can be dealt with, so that in the future the messages in the media come with statistics and are dealt with unsensationally or not at all.

The media need to realise how vulnerable some people are, and how they're thoughtlessly fueling disordered thoughts. It's really serious and needs to be acknowledged!

When will the government realise that eating disorders are just as bad if not worse than obesity. Education regarding food needs to be balanced with no bad or guilty food, but emphasis on balance & moderation. Banning or restricting a food makes it more desirable! Drawing attention to diet at an age where primary school children are approaching puberty & having to cope with changes to body shape and hormones is literally a recipe for disaster and has certainly triggered food related/body image anxieties in increasing numbers of pre-teens!!
