I agree. It's just fueling eating disorders and people need to be more aware about it x

Every morning whilst eating my breakfast I receive messages about oh too much sugar is making us fat bla bla.. My breakfasts are quite high in sugar and I already find it hard to deal with allowing myself sugary foods, even if they are natural sugar. Having these messages constantly in the news just puts people who are suffering with an ED on edge constantly and doubting where we are in recovery.

The media don't understand the impact they can have on people, it's brilliant that somebody is addressing the issue

I've thought this for far too long and something needs to be done.

This is a fantastic petition, I agree with everything that has been said-recovering from an eating disorder is hard enough without the pressure from the media and what we 'should' or 'shouldn't' eat.

Really accurate. I'm so glad this petition exists and I hope it's taken seriously and gets the amount of signatures needed

absolutely true! The media can be the most triggering and unhelpful in recovery! it has made me question many times whether recovery is the right path, but now I know it is.

I'm so glad you've made this! There's too much focus on how people should look when in reality, your weight doesn't define you. Thankyou!

Finally someone speaks up. The media is the most triggering thing for me. Like, oh, she's so skinny, and she's famous. Maybe I need to lose weight. But no. Not every beautiful person is stick thin. Everyone is beautiful in their own way, and if the media can't portray that, they're ugly, not us.

This petition is fab. I'm suffering with anorexia myself, and I totally agree with everything said in this petition!

I think it's incredibly frustrating to see countless advertisements announcing how 'bad' all sugar is for us, suggesting we cut things out of our diet, have low fat/sugar free options because they're 'better' for us. I think there's far too much of a concern on promoting people to ban things from their diet when truly, everything, in moderation, is perfectly acceptable! We should be promoting balance and moderation not extremes on both ends. Such negative stigma around food and how much or little of it we should it plays no favour in the increasing developement of eating disorders in young people today. After seeing change4life adverts suggesting how awful soft drinks are is hardly encouraging a positive relationship with food and drink, suggesting sugar is to be avoided is also damaging to peoples opinions on food and ability to develop a healthy relationdship with it, it's no wonder eating disorders are on the rise when the government are teaching to ban/restrict as opposed to moderate and appreciate.
