The party leadership has formally acknowledged that the primary results must be respected. Our position regarding the integrity of the ballot process has prevailed. We will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that this commitment is upheld throughout the remainder of the election cycle.
This petition is not calling for Congressman Akin to withdraw from the US Senate race.
This petition affirms that if Congressman Akin does step down, the Republican party should, in direct compliance with Republican values and principles, nominate the second place challenger on the August 2012 Missouri US Senate Primary Ballot. It is not the will of the voters, nor is it in the interest of the Republican party, for the voice of the people to be ignored when choosing their elected representation.
The primary process was fair and the people have spoken.

Exactly. Why even have primaries if they just gonna swap people out behind closed doors? Let the numbers stand.

RIDICULOUS that they think they can just ignore the August results. We voted for a reason.
