An age friendly university is very important if older adults are to feel welcomed and valued. The MSU 62 program was implemented well before the age friendly university was conceived, but it captures the idea quite nicely. Like the university the Gerontology Program has historically been ahead of the curve. For example, students and faculty in the program were focused on Public Affairs since the inception of the program in 1980. This precedes the PA focus at MSU by more than two decades. If we are to facilitate successful aging among older adults (and for ourselves in the later years) working to have an age friendly university is certainly a step in the right direction.

I have taken advantage of a free class per semester. I enjoy that I can satisfy a curiosity with a college course.

I hope that this commendable initiative will not undertake to dilute any university courses under the deluded notion that we seniors somehow need a leg up when it comes to exposure to new ideas and methods. Our life's experiences more than compensate for what we might not have in IQ. I've taken enough university courses since my 65th birthday to appreciate that the enthusiasm of the youths with whom I've shared a classroom is not matched by their knowledge of the world and many of them have confirmed, to my satisfaction at least, that the Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well in university classrooms around the world.

Intergenerational discussions help us think more critically, be more compassionate, and obtain more insight. We need more unity and less division, of all types, right now!

One of the special joys of teaching at MSU is that I regularly have a senior member in my classes, as I have at present. The contributions of this senior member has always been priceless!

As a 70 year old per course online instructor; I consider myself a 'student of life'!
I love having diversity in my virtual classroom; in my experience this creates a richer environment for all students.
We learn from each other!

Great idea! MSU is already "age friendly", so why not make it official.
