I feel that if you're off work after having a miscarriage you should still be paid.

I was lucky enough to have extremely supportive employers when I suffered a miscarriage and then developed sepsis so could take 2 weeks off. Even then I'm not sure than was enough. This should be an employment right not a discretionary payment.

I have had 2 miscarriages myself and needed more time off to grieve but had to go back to work. You never hey over going threw a miscarriage. I totally agree with this petition

I think dads should also be entitled to paid sick leave to support their partners going through this. It seems so unfair that they too aren't entitled to paid time to grieve and support their partner.

I too have suffered 5 miscarriages under 12 weeks and had to take time off.

I miscarried in the middle of the night, had one day off and faced such ridicule from work as to why I was off and wasn't 'sick' so got no pay that day. I hope this makes a difference!

I had the same thing Jessica but at 19 weeks so completely understand that mothers need to be given time to grieve and take time out to process their loss

I totally agree as the trauma and upset after such a traumatic event should mean you are granted some leave to grieve.

The loss of a child at any stage is unbearable. This is any time from finding out you are expecting a baby onwards. No parent should have to suffer the loss of a child. Carrying a child, pining your hopes and dreams for the future and then going through the emotional and physical trauma of losing that child before ever being blessed to hold them in your arms is one of the cruelest and most devastating a experiences of a parents life, suddenly they are no longer an expectant parent but there's no sympathy or time to recover especially when dependent on wages. You're simply supposed to carry on like nothing has happened even though your whole life has changed in that instant. I believe there should be paid time off to grieve.
