It is simply absurd not to award the title to such a notable player.
The Nobel Prize committee apologized for Gandhi's lack of a Nobel Peace Prize by saying, "the question today is not whether Gandhi can do without the Nobel Peace Prize, it is whether the Nobel Peace Prize can do without Gandhi " In the same way, Sultan Khan can do without a posthumous title from Fide, but can Fide do without Sultan Khan?

Sultan Khan was a name I knew from when I started reading about chess fifty years ago. I was startled to learn that he wasn't ever a GM. The time has come.
