Rob and Joyce Harvey Hansell recently fostered a special needs child from the Lexington County Department of Social Services in South Carolina. Although they were FOSTER parents, they claimed on a Facebook page they opened, called "Miracles for Matthew" which grew to a following of 22,000 people, that the child was their ADOPTED child. Joyce gave updates of the child's progress, posted pictures, and inspired thousands. However, the couple then promoted the same child and his devastating tale of abuse on various fundraising websites, claiming to need money for medical and moving expenses to get him care at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia Pa. The medical expenses that he would require, would actually be covered by Medicaid. The child was removed from the home, and the fundraising sites remained posted, even after the facebook page was taken down. After complaints, the fundraising sites were removed. They need to be investigated.
