So using this "logic", IF the T.V. or MC basketball team should win the sectional and regionals, they wouldn't be allowed to go to the state tournament, because they would miss an "instructional day"? Yeah, right
There's more than one solution to this problem. It only takes someone with the willingness to apply one of them.

Most of the regulars sports events haven't been cancelled so why cancel these kids events?

In no way should this even be allowed to happen. These children deserve this just as much as anyone.

If the schools can make sure to make up basketball games that were cancelled due to snow, surely they can make sure to have the Special Olympics for these deserving kids! They need that social interaction with others. Let them have their day to feel special and Not in the way labeled upon them. They NEED this. Let them see opportunity and hope for a more accepting world. Whoever is responsible for the decision to not have our schools Special Olympics may have never had the chance to attend one. If so, I don't think this would be an issue right now.

It's ridiculous to penalize the special needs children for something they had no control over. This is one of the few times that Spec. Needs kids get to do anything. Cancel a regular sporting event instead.

How can you cancel this when the weather has been bad enough that people are advised to not leave their homes?

We need to stand up for those that are discriminated against. I see make up games in every basketball event that was missed. This is important to these kids.

These kids look forward to this every year. I have worked with several students who have either participated or volunteered for this event. This event is a must for these students.

When I was in high school (which I graduated from WHS in 2009) I volunteered to be a helper at this event every year!! It would be ashame to take this opportunity away from them. It's one day they get to be proud of themselves and to do things that they usually can't do.

Snow days or not...these kids work hard and look forward to this event. Unless you are canceling ball games and things that other students attend and look forward to, to make up snow days...don't take this from these kids! They DESERVE this!

If the board doesn't have these kids one then I'm sure there is enough of us caring mingo county citizens will put one together for them. Let's get these running officials involved.
