I think it is absolutely ridiculous to purchase additional land to build a new courthouse. Although I feel the best idea is to proceed with the current plans and keep the courthouse in its present location, utilizing the property on Highway 87 seems to be a more viable solution than purchasing additional property. The Highway 87 property would provide easy access via Highway 90, I-10, and Highway 87. It's time we start thinking wisely about every dollar spent. Instead of wasting even more money on acquiring additional property, and having more plans drawn up, spend money on building an alternate bridge/route over Blackwater.

Change is not always good! Keep Milton's unique small town atmosphere the way it is! Santa Rosa County is represented well just as it is!

My personal opinion is that it needs to stay downtown. The area is already geared for such a facility ... including the neighborhood. Why disrupt another neighbourhood.

The County is trying to destroy the downtown buisiness's. Build a lowrise parking facility and put the courthouse over it.

They could set up portables at the fairgrounds and make them employee and citizen friendly, then level the current courthouse and rebuild from the ground up, fortifying the structure for future development.

Sounds like moving the courthouse is a big waste of money to me - sounds like someone has property they want to sell at above market cost and their friend the politician is slicking the deal - we need some investigative reporting for us from a newspaper to follow the money and expose the real agenda.

keep the courthouse downtown. it is the heart of Milton. and, as # 3 states, "The Board of County Commissioners has expended over $400,000.00 of taxpayer funds to obtain plans for building a new courthouse located in downtown Milton, Florida" - OUTRAGEOUS! just for plans. we've all ready spent this much for plans - then use the plans!!! don't pay for new land, new plans and a new courthouse. DUH!

Someones friend is gonna have their pockets lined. Why not use FREE land? Because a county commissioner has a friend who will make money.

While I think everybody agrees that we need a new courthouse, I believe it was poor judgment by the County Commission to be dismissive of the downtown Milton location for our new courthouse. Engineers have already determined the current courthouse location to be a viable option for our future courthouse. Hundreds of thousands of dollars of our hard earned money was spent on the plans for that proposed courthouse, and the courthouse as proposed was already approved by the commission. In my book, and I'm sure many others, $400,000.00 is a significant amount of money to be throwing away. Let's start thinking again about using our money wisely. It doesn't come easy these days, to any of us.

I have always been in favor of keeping the courthouse downtown. It is still the best location for so many reasons. As a retired courthouse employee I am very aware of all of the issues. The plan drawn up years ago was a great one and remains good today. It will be a terrible mistake to move it

The courthouse needs to stay downtown where it belongs. It's the heart of old Milton and without it, downtown Milton has no chance of survival.
