I am respectfully asking the Peabody City Council to support and approve this project for apartments at Mills 58. This type of transformative mixed use & mixed income project is exactly the type of redevelopment we should be embracing as a community. Expanding affordable housing options in and around our downtown area should be one of the top priorities of our City Council in this new year.

I live about 3/4 of a mile from here. I walk past this pretty regularly and drive by almost daily. I think this is good for this area, believe this owner has a good vision for this property and hope he is given the go ahead to add residential to it. Whenever I see new construction taking place in all the hot spots, this is the building model that seems to be very successful - retail on the first floor and residential above. I am thrilled that someone is willing to try it on an old building right here in Peabody. The character it could provide as far as the units go could be terrific and who knows, if it works as good as some of think it could, perhaps other similar dilapidated buildings here in the city could be next! Add a requirement that a certain amount must be for low income to help with the city’s requirement for affordable housing, but I hope you give him a green light.

With the impact the pandemic has had on small businesses, this project is a wonderful way to stimulate Peabody's economic growth! The renovation of Mills58 has been exciting to watch. It has gone from a run down, dirty dump to a unique small business hub! Adding residential units to Mills58 will only help Peabody's small business owners, who ARE the backbone of our economy. This would be a win win for Peabody

This is almost literally ‘in my backyard’ and I love the revitalization. They have proven success with a retail re-do on half of it, so yes to filling the other half with tax paying, business supporting tenants. City dwellers moving out of the city aren’t always looking for the 3 bedroom with a yard. Mid to high end apartment living is highly highly desirable in suburbs- just look at rantouille st in Bev.
