As of 2017 there are nearly 300,000 foreign workers in the construction sector. Most come from Bangladesh. Many pay a fee of at least average $8,000 to their agents to work here in Singapore. With a salary of average $20/day despite working long hours, these foreign workers continue working in Singapore in hopes of bringing a better future for their families back home in Bangladesh.
Under Singapore Contract of service, it is required to have basic salary which can be calculated hourly, daily or piece-rated work. However, unlike other developed countries, Singapore has Employment of Foreign Manpower Act (EFMA) which still does not have an official minimum wage.
Join me to urge the Ministry of Manpower to review the stipulated minimum wage for these migrant workers. Every pledge matters.

im still reading through all the stories people are posting and it really puts into perspective how hard these guys are working for so little. ive been talking with a few people to see how we can get the ministry to actually look at these pay structures because the current situation just isnt working for anyone.

the momentum behind this is honestly wild and it shows just how many people see the unfairness in these pay rates. reading through your thoughts on this has been super eye opening and i feel like we are finally starting to get some real attention.

They built our country, they put their lives at risk, put their families behind. Yet they can’t even afford a taste of what most of us locals can. Have you ever seen a migrant worker at a restaurant? I even hardly see them at mcdonalds or kfc because buying a single burger would mean half a day’s salary gone. They deserve more for what they’ve been through.
I'm currently working with them now while waiting for NS. And we talk abit about our everyday living expenses and it's a shame to know that although they earn very little, they are still grateful. And while we S'poreans enjoy our weekend outdoor, some are still working while others stay in their dormitory. Their weekend life is pretty much limited and I felt sorry for them. And it is saddened to know that S'pore government............. I hope one day these foreign workers can have the same montly wage if not atleast just few hundreds away. I'm taking about the non-educated foreigners not the educated ones.

I spent or it would be say corruption to the consultancy for getting a job in Singapore.but the wage money is not affordable for entry level of Foreign construction workers. because it takes one year to settle their borrowed money to intake. An employer side of business only improving that who are working for minimum wage salary per day. At the same times the employees couldn't even get the 4hours overtime. So please consider our problems and we are struggling to earn money in Singapore and also we faces the difficulties to run our families at own countries with getting of low wages. Thanks.
