Michigan Avenue's Amplified Nuisance

I completely agree. This singer at 410 N Michigan Ave is a scammer. The police told me that he uses a car battery to power a high-power amplifier to carry his voice louder. This is illegal. In addition, he stands under the Wrigley building arch which already amplifies noise through echo. This decibel is far past the normal range for hearing. For adults and infants trying to sleep in the building, this has been a huge issue. This noise occurs almost every day. In addition, I was at Whole Foods Streeterville earlier this year and was sitting at the cafeteria and overheard a conversation from a guy at the very next table talking to another guy about how he was making hundreds of dollars per hour and every day was making an excessive amount of money. I looked over and it was the singer. He is scamming the tourists and the public. I called the singer out the next time I saw him singing, and he changed his voice and played dumb. I later saw him 1 HOUR LATER on lakeshore path GOING FOR A RUN with trendy workout clothing listening to music ON HIS IPHONE with the same guy he was talking to at whole foods. He recognized me on the path and started laughing as I took a double take. I also took a picture. He is a scammer. This singer is making more money than majority of the people in the US.

Asked him to lower volume and he snarled get away from me. Said no petition can stop me and laughed. Police said they won't do anything unless we take him to court.

This guy has clearly zero care about any laws and obviously feels immune to any reprocussions to breaking the law. Not only does he ignore current ordinances in place, he is now out singing despite the current shelter in home order put in place by our governor TO THE WHOLE STATE. When is someone going to do something about this???

Not only do we have to listen to this loud singer, there is also a man who blows a horn, who stands at the corner of Michigan and Wacker. He plays some nights up until midnight. I've called the police, they do nothing. We live more than 40 stories up and it's like he's outside our window.

We pay massive taxes. Surely, we should have some rights. Would you want this noise outside your bedroom window?

I can hear him over my TV. Visitors comment on it when they come to visit. It is horrible.

I agree in completeness with this letter and have taken action in calling 911 to report the noise. I am on the 25th floor and can hear the singer over my TV

Maybe this wouldn't be so annoying if he didn't have a terrible voice. Just kidding, it's super annoying regardless.

How many times have I come home very tired on a Friday and been unable to sleep because of a very loud muffled sound system that tortures me.
