Michelle Fine's work is compassionate, creative and inspiring - all the things critical educators all over the world aspire to be. This story fills me with great sadness.

This is an attack on academic freedom. Researchers and theorists must be allowed to level critique of injustices and inequalities in established systems in order to provide a check-and-balance against powerful bodies. Without these safeguards our individual liberties are at stake. What is happening to Michelle Fine is essentially doxxing - she is being bullied publicly for daring to take up space, point out problems, and speak her mind in a system that relies on secrecy and unexamined "facts" for its continued legitimacy. Do not let important academic thinkers like Fine be silenced.

Michelle is internationally recognized for her passionate scholarship on educational and racial justice. From spearheading school restructuring in Philadelphia in the 1980s to being an expert witness in education discrimination cases to doing ground-breaking research into the "opportunity gap" in public schools to helping to develop the nationally regarded New York Performance Standards Consortium, Michelle has spent her career working with teachers, students, and parents to build schools that celebrate teaching and learning, and that foster inquiry, creativity, inclusion, and equity for all students, especially those who have been most marginalized.
It is appalling that her efforts in support of public education in Montclair have been decontextualized and twisted in such a malicious and cowardly fashion.

Not only is Dr. Michelle Fine a prolific scholar, she is a dedicated social justice activist who has helped improve the lives of some of the community's most marginalized. These attempts to slander her are scoff-worthy.

Michelle has devoted her entire professional career to the cause of social justice. These attacks are simply an effort to intimidate her. I support her without reservation.

The slander and inquisition of activists and scholars who are critical of corporate-driven reform, research and policy is a dangerous turn, reminiscent of political regimes that the U.S. has long actively opposed.

I fully SUPPORT Michelle Fine. Montlciar has had a rich history in innovation starting with the Team School within Montclair HS in the 1970s and the Renaissance School and others....The Christie/Serf/Klein agenda continues to erode our democracy and goals for equity and access. Michelle's strength, wisdom and voice should be celebrated...

I believe that it is vital that we standard up to the attempted cooperate takeover of national education systems which have the aim of reducing schools to preparation of a docile, uncritical and compliant workforce. For the sake of our children and young people and all of our futures we must support Dr Michelle Fine and all who promote educational values and principles which celebrate diversity, encourage creativity and critical thinking and provide for inclusion and equity.
