This is shocking but also unsurprising as education becomes more and more devalued as a commercial, business commodity that needs to be measured, tested and marketed to the highest bidder. We stand behind you Michelle...

It is appalling how such a respected academmic can be bullied in such a fashion without her employer defending her.

Whether someone agrees or disagrees with Professor Fine's ideas about education is not the point. Whether you know her or not – appreciate her work or not – is also not the point.
Education is supposed to be about a free exchange of ideas in a democratic society so that people can engage with one another and come up with the best solution to hard problems.
Ironically, this slanderous, ridiculous bullying video by purported by 'education activists' is counter to every value of good, relationship based education. It says a lot more about the people who posted it than about Professor Fine and her ideas.
Character assassination and targeting individuals because you don't like what they have to say/ disagree with their views is a terrible strategy to achieve democratic educated dialogue. This conversation should not be about Professor Fine and her emails or about MKF. It should be about what's best for the kids.
How about starting with modeling the value of civil and respectful discourse?

Prof Fine has plenty written and published in the public domain that is more challenging than anything shown in the youtube clip.

it is appropriate as an educator and distinguished researcher that michelle fine continue to apply the psychological understandings about community life in america to issues of education in her own community. thise on the other side of the issue will have their own team's experts to debate in a public forum or in media the issues. academics deal with a multitude of emails in conjunction with questions from students, collaboration with colleagues, discussions with media and the application of our social science knowledge , understanding and analysis to pressing social issues such as education, women.s rights, and social justice. to think that someone can gain access to, and disseminate privately addressed emails in a corrupted form creates a climate of dread . I support michelle in this struggle.

Michelle Fine's work, on the relationship between the researcher and those researched, has been central to my own development as a researcher. This situation now seems deeply ironic.
