In Support of Michelle Fine

Dr. Michelle Fine deserves the support of all serious educators.

I am proud to be a colleague of Michelle Fine, who exemplifies the highest standards of scholarship and civic engagement. By all means let all who disagree with her argue their points of view accordingly. But publicizing private emails in an attempt to discredit her is beyond the pale, the kind of tactic used by totalitarian regimes to cow intellectuals into silence. Michelle Fine will not be silenced, nor will her thousands of supporters, who now are on notice what kinds of despicable people are behind the relentless attacks on our public education system. Forthright, open, free debate will prevail over cowardly and inept attempts at character assassination.

I have followed Michelle's career and am in complete agreement with this petition. Her life has been one of integrity and great passion for social justice.

The lengths to which opponents will go to slander a dedicated professional know no bounds.

We are appalled at the abuse of technology and social media tools to misinterpret the actions of a woman who is dedicated to public education—which is the cornerstone of our democracy. The encroachment of for-profit corporations and the politicians who support the takeover of our public schools by charter corporations need to be stopped.

I very much support this petition in support of Michelle Fine. Michelle has been been a person I have admired ever since I have been a graduate student. She is a person with great integrity.

Michelle is my colleague and friend. Her research and action programs in the public schools are models for the rest of the social science community. I am not surprised that the private sector is threatened by her work as she exposes No Child Left Behind for the failure it is.

Michelle Fine is a national treasure and one of the most tireless champions of social justice in the entire discipline of psychology. It is essential that her freedom of speech be protected and her intellectual integrity defended..

Michelle Fine has devoted her scholarly life to the much-needed yet dangerous work of transgressive research and praxis. Many folks in different spheres of life have much to be thankful for and inspired by because of the brilliant and challenging work she has done. The attacks against her are shameful and heartbreaking to see.

wondered to know such heinous acts against the conscientious objectors like Dr Fine for the social justice for the majority people. what about the issues on individual freedom rights and right to privacy ? even in the democratic country like USA ? Isn't it a matter of shame to all the democrats through out the world for the democracy itself ?

Although not an academic I have read and followed Michelle Fine's work for many years first at university and since then. This is nothing short of personal harassment and I really should be amazed at the lengths these people are going to to discredit a brilliant academic whose work has changed so many young lives in education. The problem is I am not surprised these private education companies get millions of tax dollars every year so this is big business to them and this is how you bring down the "enemy" in the corporate world lies and unsubstantiated incredulous rubbish. Shame on anyone who believes this
