I think it's ridiculous that we can't wear shorts that aren't knee length.. because if that wasn't a rule i would wear athletic shorts 95% of the time and those are not revealing at all.. and it's not fair that i am being looked at for trying to show off my legs when all im really trying to be comfortable while sitting in a classroom for 7 hours everyday. Because boys can wear athletic shorts and be comfortable but clearly the only thing girls can wear and jeans and sweatpants cause their knees aren't showing!!!! it's sexist and not fair. Something needs to be changed.

I really appreciate your relentless effort! This is amazing! You ARE making a difference by making people aware of the issue whether you get your desired results or not (which I think you will)! You are killing it gf!

As a parent, the dress code is a little ridiculous. The girls should be able to wear shorts that are appropriate length. Teachers should adhere to the dress code as well. I am okay with no hats inside; that's a sign of respect. I hope some compromise can be made with the dress code.

I don't go to the high school but I will next year and the dress code is not fair at all!

This is a great idea and goal. I'm glad to see the lower class man taking a stand. Also I agree with shoulders and knees being considered NOT sexual because they aren't. They're body parts that everyone has. Also I attend the career center and our rule is mid thigh for shorts and skirts and no one has been dress coded once. I say hell yeah to shorts and tank tops! Hope to hear about this again in October.

Compromise is a good approach: good luck to all students in your effort. Only you can change the world, one pair of shorts at a time!

No girl or boy should be restricted on what they want to wear. The only people "distracted" are the few teachers, who are adults. Adults should not be distracted by a 16 year old's shoulder or knee.

Absolutely agree with all of this. Learning and recieving an education is more important than making sure some boy doesn't get 'distracted' by shoulders and knees. And colleges don't have a dress code, yet boys function just fine.

As student council president at A.I Root in the 2014-2015 school year, I started a written, peaceful petition for leggings to be allowed. I received about 200 signatures within the first day, and by the end of the week, I was sitting in the vice principals office being told to shut down. I hope the students at MHS stand behind this cause for a more equal, appropriate, and plausible dress code.
