Lowering the dam level from it's current level would be very detrimental to Middle Genesee Lake residents and guests.. As in the past years when the level was low, it was impossible or at least very difficult to launch a boat, much less keep a boat at our dock, which is at the shallow sandy end of the lake. The level the lake is at right now is perfect for swimming, boating, fishing, etc.
Widening the opening makes more sense to accommodate a faster flow of water when flooding becomes a problem, as what occurred this summer on both lakes. I think we can find a solution that will satisfy most lake residents.

Lowering the outflow structure could possibly create more problems than anticipated when accounting for the natural high and low water cycles that have existed forever.
