Out of state and out of town users are destroying our beautiful parks with their garbage and hypodermic needles. As we had to do at Wasserman, we now should do for all our parks. No out of town people should be allowed at our beaches without having to pay a fee and the police should be patrolling frequently, due to the hypodermic needles found on our beach yesterday, amongst the discarded fishing gear, hooks, and plethora of trash. This is a public health issue and also a way for Merrimack residents to make sure their parks are preserved for our families. This is our town, our home, and our taxes. This petition will be sent to the Town Manager and Town Council asking for this to be put on a ballot to allow residents to make decisions about the upkeep of our community. When only two out of12 license plates at our park are New Hampshire plates and the rest are Massachusetts, it proves outsiders have no interest in preserving our natural resources, yet they have no problem destroying them because it does not affect their communities. We should no longer be forced to put up with this type of disrespectful behavior and associated expenses that will ultimately be put on our backs in our taxes. We should have someone at the park entrances collecting fees, which would open a job for someone in our town, and they would also be responsible for reporting license plates to the police department of those who litter up our parks. Keep Merrimack beautiful!

Same problem happening in our neighborhood! We are being over run by out of state visitors using wildcat falls, trash, speeding, disrespect for the neighborhood and trails it’s heartbreaking.. I agree Merrimack town beaches and parks should be residents only!!! We can all obtain a free dump sticker as proof of residence.

I have to pay a fee when I go elsewhere example Baboosic Lake why shouldn’t other people pay to use resources where I live?

My son and his friends frequent that park and I cannot agree more. I was there today and could not believe the trash! I was so disgusted! This is sending a visual unconscious message to our children that it is acceptable. This needs to stop.

This is a necessity. We pay enough in taxes to pay a kid $15/he to sit in a booth to check IDs.

With no obvious revenue coming in from these visitors (ie to restaurants because they usually bring their own food), we are seeing no benefit financially from the taxes we pay to keep these parks maintained. At the least, a fee should be established for non residents at our parks. Patrols are necessary, too.

We would love to go back to this park we used to love it but haven’t been in two years. Every time we drive by it’s all out of state plates so we don’t bother going anymore because it’s trashed and dangerous!!!
