Tommy adalah pilihan sebulat suara pemimpin PH.
Empat parti gabungan dalam PH merasakan pelantikan tokoh yang dihormati dalam bidang perundangan itu akan menghantar isyarat jelas kepada rakyat Malaysia dan dunia bahawa kerajaan baru ini serius hendak membetulkan institusi negara yang cacat.
Pelantikan itu juga diharap akan menjamin adanya seorang peguam yang cekap dalam perbicaraan yang boleh mengendalikan kes tumpuan termasuk pendakwaan ke atas mereka yang terlibat dalam skandal 1MDB.
Namun surat perdana menteri kepada Seri Paduka itu tidak ada tindakan selanjutnya, membawa kepada ketegangan antara kerajaan dan istana.
Sebaliknya, ada beberapa mesej dari Istana, meminta PH menggugurkan nama Thomas. Beberapa calon lain dikemukakan kepada Dr Mahathir termasuk seorang bekas hakim mahkamah tinggi dan seorang hakim Mahkamah Rayuan.
The Malaysian Insight difahamkan Raja-Raja Melayu yang lain juga menyokong pendirian Yang Di-Pertuan Agong. Mereka dikatakan bertegas seorang peguam negara hendaklah seorang MELAYU dan beragama ISLAM.
Konklusinya, marilah kita sama-sama menanda petisyen bantahan terhadap pelantikan Tommy Thomas sebagai Peguam Negara.

On some aspects, we should take casual approach in our reform. Lets build the confidence in the people first that institutional reform is the only way to go. Then there will less resistance and have greater confidence in the reform itself.
YDP has the power to appoint AG on the advice of the prime minister. If the YDP does not agree with the candidate nominated by the prime minister, respect the decision and select another eligible candidate. Respect YDP as the ruler of the country.

Hak-hak di dalam Perlembagaan membawa tiada makna apabila dasar-dasar ke arah itu tidak dipedulikan oleh mana-mana Pemerintah. Membuka ruang kepada semua rakyat tidak seharusnya bermaksud memberi kelonggaran bertindak angkuh pada Raja-Raja Melayu.
