As an MU alum and former faculty member--and a resident of North Manchester--I am proud of and grateful to the MU community of students, faculty, staff and alums who are speaking up and taking action on behalf of LGBTQ people.

Perhaps the MU of today is not the MC of yesterday that I remember so fondly. Disappointed they didn't stand strong on this one. Respect the faculty for speaking out on this.

As a member of the Church of the Brethren and a proud alum of Manchester University, I am in support of human rights for all people. This is fundamentally a human rights issue.

Please contact your state representatives and state senators and tell them to vote no.

This amendment makes permanent the oppression of a whole class of people. Really makes Indiana look like a loser of a state.

I'm still trying to figure out how we are still able to withhold civil liberties from a group of people. It sounds like an illegal act to me.

Even retired faculty see the error in such an amendment.

This is discriminatory and will dissuade a highly educated workforce from residing in Indiana.

1975 graduate. Sadly I am not suprised by Manchester's non-stand. Having been a past member of the Brethren Mennonite Council on Lesbian and Gay concerns I am only too well-aware that the Church of the Brethren draws a line on its social justice stance when it comes to sexual orientation. But I too must say SHAME ON MANCHESTER. There are a whole lot of us queer folk who are alumni. Guess the best response here would be to ask all queer and conscious straight alums to reconsider donations to Manchester.

I have been ashamed of Manchester for their decision to stand neutral on such an important civil rights issue. This is the college where my mom got to march with Martin Luther King Jr. Now, where other colleges and universities have taken a stand, MU has sat down and refused to move forward. I have heard that the administration refuses to change their stance now, which disappoints me greatly. I thought that Manchester would stand up for this generations issues the way that it has in the past, but I have been more than let down. I will sign the petition, but my respect for Manchester as an institution is gone. Butler University, Purdue University, Indiana University... these are the schools that have taken a stand for civil rights. Manchester is no longer even a tenth of the institution it once was. My grandfather, a Manchester alum, would be so disappointed if he could see what was happening.

Not taking a stand and remaining silent is the strongest form of non neutrality that there is. Your university is showing nothing but greed and pure cowardice; fear of a few backers and going against their bigoted unethical views! HJR-6 is not only unethical but dangerous for our state becoming and being taken seriously in this century and makes Indiana companies and Universities inhospitable to growth and development that is needed in this ever changing world.
