I am writing to bring to your esteemed attention a growing concern regarding the manner in which certain media outlets report incidents involving stray or community animals, especially dogs. Recently, a tragic event involving a child’s death due to rabies was widely publicized under sensational headlines such as “City hounded by strays, kids pay the price.” While public health is undoubtedly a matter of urgent importance, the framing of such news has unfortunately led to widespread fear, misinformation, and an increase in hostility towards all the community animals. This, in turn, has led to increased hostility, unwarranted violence, and cruelty against these animals, disrupting the delicate balance of coexistence and causing social unrest within communities that care for and coexist with them. Misunderstanding about the behavior and role of community animals and unfairly stigmatizes entire populations of innocent animals.

- The use of generalizing language and fear-mongering headlines tends to stigmatize all community animals for isolated incidents.
- Such reporting often ignores scientific facts and established animal birth control and vaccination programs.

- The legal framework protecting animals (PCA Act, ABC Rules, etc.)
- Monitoring and Accountability: Strengthen mechanisms to promptly address complaints related to unethical reporting involving animals and hold media accountable where necessary.

Animal cruelty caused by fake and faulty media reports with offensive news titles against animals.
Shouldn't media be well informed, sensitive and responsible with the reporting. Your headlines often are misleading and smack of a blatant disregard for an biased reporting which should focus on facts and figures rather than one which creates uncalled for fear animosity and hatred in an already tense and strained atmosphere . We hope the petition will drive you to write with sensitivity and empathy for the existence of all sentient beings.

Media has no right to show only one side of the story ! Media has to keep in mind animal laws , rights and cannot spread hate about animals as they want !

Media has a great responsibility more than earlier, as it is reaching masses through social media. Unfortunately it’s reporting wrongly, painting one sided story, no fact checks, no data represented and more such glares. Media now just trying to make catchy headlines. Media is in its most sorry state currently.
