Animal agriculture accounts for 20% of all greenhouse gas(GHG) emissions, including methane and carbon dioxide. These and other similar gasses are the leading cause of global warming and climate change. Adopting plant-based diets on a large scale can prevent up to 78 gigatons of emissions from entering Earth's atmosphere, offering a promising climate change solution!

To aid this global adaptation, UCSB should integrate more plant-based meals into its dining commons menus.

Implementing Meatless Monday would help UCSB lower its GHG emissions. Meatless Mondays are precisely what they sound like! UCSB dining commons would serve only meatless and plant-based options on Monday every week.

Although this solution cannot solve climate change alone, it would help significantly slow rising global temperatures.

Please consider signing this petition to get UCSB Campus Dining to pledge to integrate Meatless Mondays and plant-based meal options into their dining commons menus. In doing so, UCSB could inspire other universities to make similar pledges and help reduce GHG emissions on a global scale.
