I agree with submitted comments for speed restrictions. Also, I have avoided accidents in my car when leaving woodlea place at the mini roundabout only because of my awareness of other drivers ignoring the roundabout and driving at speed straight across it.

Considering there are two schools in such close proximity, there is a real need to reduce the limit to 20mph on both the surrounding roads and in the Woodlea estate, where many drivers drive straight across the mini roundabout entering the estate at Woodlea Approach, where there are often pedestrians.

I have already made a complaint to the council, about the speed of traffic approaching the roundabout and the have done a road traffic assessment. But told me it was not an accident blackspot so would not do anything about it.

I walk home with my son every day and have seen lots of near misses in these areas. Cars often do not stop at the zebra crossing which is very worrying when there are so many young children about. It is disgusting that there needs to be an accident in order for this issue to be resolved!

Many cars fail to stop at the zebra crossing outside Cardinal Heenan - it's in a really awkward place too, as cars are often stationary while waiting to turn into the school, or taking advantage of a brief gap in traffic to exit the school quickly thus not concentrating on the crossing. I would definitely support a pelican crossing, perhaps a little bit further away from the Cardinal Heenan entrance/exit.

This is an area where hundreds of children and their parents walk to school and cross they busy road. The local motorists use it as a shortcut from the ring road through a built up area to avoid Headingley and drive to the City. They mostly drive too fast for the conditions. As a grandparent I am very concerned about the safety of the children.

Children go into Cardinal Heenan High School using the exit road. There should be a dedicated pedestrian entrance at this point where the majority of children enter the school. The school car park should be where the old St John Bosco School car park was. This would eliminate a lot of the issues of mixing cars and pedestrian at this busy entrance point opposite the Woodlea's.

We need to protect children, and these measures will do that, particularly when some irresponsible and dangerous drivers ignore meadures already in place like the zebra crossing.

Thanks for signing up to the petition. Although you do not speak for the whole of Woodlea Village, only for yourself. We are keeping it in perspective. It is entirely possible to drive at 40mph up and down section of Tongue Lane and Church Lane at any time of day. Traffic needs to be slowed down outside the school. We need a crossing which cars will stop at outside the school. We need traffic to slow down on Tongue Lane and Church Lane. We need a safe place for children to cross beyond the mini roundabout. There are also some issues on both entrance/exit roads to the Woodlea estate.

Perspective 40mph- you will probably kill the child 30mph- the child has an 80% chance of survival 20mph- the child is likely to survive with minor injuries.

It is a disgrace that the Council have no interest in the number of near misses with children and adults being on the crossing and cars ignoring them and driving over it. This happened to me yet again lasts week. The crossing is in the wrong place, the mini roundabout is terrible and always causes problems for both pedestrians and drivers, so many drivers just fail to indicate which I don't understand. Here's hoping we can get a proper review asap and make the whole area safer for all.

Council should take note of concerns which are very genuine and action should be taken at the earliest before anyone gets hurt or injured.

Vehicles often overtake buses stopping along Tongue Lane and Church Lane, with little regard for pedestrians. The mini roundabout is barely acknowledged by some drivers, making it dangerous for any pedestrians, or indeed other drivers. In general this is an area where speeding is common, and road safety could be significantly improved by adopting the measures proposed in this petition.

People need to be re-educated as I have seen too many people drive over zebra crossings when people have been waiting to cross them.
