Petition for Speed Restrictions on Tongue Lane and beyond

People drive so quickly and dangerously up and down our street (Church Lane), i can't believe there are no current controls. Also, my cat was run over right outside my house, bastard!

Lowering the speed limit should be a priority outside schools

In addition to these much needed changes, I would like to express the need for railings along the road side in between St Urbans and the entrance to King Alfred's woods. Many families walk this way and with this being a busy stretch or road I feel very concerned for the safety of our children.

All roads outside schools should by now be 20mph. Some already are so why the delay here.

In total support for this much needed actión to support our youngsters on their way to and from School. no price too high in safeguarding the youngsters from road casualty.

It is outrageous that we need to wait for one of our kids to be knocked down by a car before something is done. The danger is there and is obvious. Thanks

Perspective? As a member of Woodlea Village, I would prefer you didn't speak for me... Indeed, I think many on the Woodlea Estate are themselves culprits at times... I live on Woodlea Place, immediately left at the mini roundabout off Woodlea Approach and walk my little boy to St Urbans and often push his younger sister in her buggy. The junction on to Tongue Lane is in itself a problem, there is no safe crossing and more often than not, I find that we have to cross Woodlea Approach from in between parked cars, which I'm quite certain are illegally parked, too close to a junction. Add to that , on a very frequent basis when leaving Woodlea Place and entering the mini roundabout in Woodlea Approach, cars to my left do not give way as they should and drive straight over the mini roundabout. All too often cars are travelling far too fast for residential, heavy pedestrianised

Lets keep this problem in perspective during peak times it's often not possible to drive at 30mph on Tongue Lane due to the large volume of traffic most of which is carrying children too or from the schools. Yes in time there will probably be a 20mph limit. A pelican crossing would probably be the best measure to reduce risk but it would make the area safer if more children walked to school. There is no need for a 20mph speed limit in woodlea village estate though some way of preventing parents from parking in woodlea approach might be appropriate.

Anything that can prevent any accident/incident should be considered.

For whatever reason, cars seems to speed along tongue lane and church lane so a speed limits is highly appropriate.

I frequently walk to school with my two little ones and always feel relieved once I get to school safe. It's a really busy road and cars drive far too fast as everyone is in a rush!

Find it very dangerous on the blind corner at the roundabout trying to cross with a buggy and two five year olds. Some cars must do at least 40 mph on tongue lane/ church lane.

I use this road frequently and have seen motor vehicles speeding along the front entrance to the school. It is my opinion that a 20 mph speed restriction be implemented as soon as possible before an accident occurs in this high pedestrian traffic area. It would be a tragedy , and a lack of duty of care , to wait until a (God forbid) fatality happens . Please be proactive in this matter when you have the chance before it's too late ! I also have had a near miss at the mini roundabout at the top of church Lane, when afar came speeding up church Lane and drove straight across losing control and just missing the bus stop.
