City Council Term Limits Bring Fresh Ideas & Energy to McHenry, IL

Support Term Limits for McHenry, IL City Council Members
As a resident of McHenry, I believe in fresh leadership, greater accountability, and a City Council that truly reflects the people it serves.
That’s why I’m starting and signing this petition to express my support for implementing term limits for City Council members in the City of McHenry. Currently an Alderman/ Alderwoman position is for 4 years with no term limits. I propose that no Alderman/Alderwoman should serve more than 3 consecutive terms for a total of 12 years in office.
Term limits will:
- Ensure fresh ideas and perspectives in city leadership
- Prevent politicians from occupying seats for decades
- Encourage more community members to step up and get involved
- Strengthen public trust in our local government
By limiting the number of consecutive terms a City Council member can serve, we ensure that new voices are always part of the conversation about McHenry’s future and that succession planning is becomes a best practice.
Join me in urging our City Council to adopt term limits and make McHenry’s government more transparent, responsive, and forward-thinking.
