I wholeheartedly agree that gender specific rules are definitely outdated in today's age. I'm a girl but I dress more like a boy so people often get it mixed up and even I've been forced to cut my hair shorter before. Sometimes it's difficult to draw a clear line of what's okay so I understand and respect that many things can't be allowed, but dress code standards should be unanimous and not target individuals.

I 100% agree with Eric’s statement. The new, and much more strict rules, expected of employees rips away their personality and identity. We feel we should be able to express ourselves, not hold back to such a high standard.

The store shouldn’t tell me or anyone else with they can or can’t do with there body’s just for the sake of being “professional” it won’t matter what we look like all that matters is how we work

Their dress code is completely outdated and ridiculous. Not to mention the only time I ever got dress coded about my pants is when the manager was down on his knees, eye level with my butt. I will be reporting this as sexual harassment if he ever tries to do anything like that again.

Ever sense I got this job two months ago i find myself not doing stuff such as getting my nails done or coloring my hair. I get dressing professionally but it’s not very comfy wearing dress shoes or collared shirts.

My son was forced to remove his earrings that he had just gotten pierced today! I am beyond furious. This practice is sexist. Would they do that to a girl? No! Sexism is alive and well at Market Basket in Bedford, NH. It's 2020, not 1950!! These ridiculous policies need to go!

This isn't even the worst part. The sexism that occurs and favoritism is blatant. I would get yelled at for doing something minor and the boys would do the same thing and my manager would just laugh it off. I quit because of it. Also men should be able to have facial hair. When my manager saw someone with so much as a five o'clock shadow he would give them a horrible little razor and make them shave with the hose in the back room. They would have razor burns all over their face. Also when the men do have mustaches, they look really weird and a lot of the time is not groomed. A lot of the managers that have them at the store o used to work at looked like man babies. It was gross to look at.
